Deep Sea Study has no account and no sign-in. Your dive records, depth and codex are stored only on your device. The developer cannot read them.
1. Information we handle
| Dive records | Start time, elapsed minutes and the depth reached for each dive. Stored on your device (SwiftData). Never sent to the developer's servers, and not synced to iCloud. |

| What other divers can see | So that you can see other people diving at a similar depth, the following is written to Apple's CloudKit public database: an automatically generated display name, your depth, this week's and today's dive minutes, whether you are diving right now and when that dive started, and an anonymous identifier generated on your device. The display name is chosen for you and there is no field for your real name. The anonymous identifier is created on the device and is never linked to the advertising identifier below. If you would rather not be listed, please contact us using the form below. |
| Advertising | Google AdMob processes your device advertising identifier (IDFA / IDFV) and information about ad impressions and interactions, for serving ads, preventing fraud and measuring performance. Tracking only happens if you allow it in the iOS permission dialog. Your dive records, depth and codex are never sent for advertising. |
2. What we do not collect
- Name, email address, phone number or postal address
- Location, contacts, photos, calendar or health data
- The contents of your dive records or codex (never sent to the developer's servers)
No analytics SDK is included.
3. If you purchase the unlock
After the one-time purchase, no ads are shown and the advertising SDK is never initialised, so none of the advertising information above is sent.
Payment is handled by Apple through the App Store. The developer never receives your card details.
4. Third parties
The developer does not sell or share your personal information with third parties. Google processes the information above in order to serve ads.
CloudKit is an Apple service. The developer has no access beyond the minimal information placed in the public database described above.
5. Notifications
One notification only, when a decompression stop ends. It is a local notification composed on the device and does not pass through any server.
6. Europe (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
In these regions a consent screen is shown before any identifier is used for advertising. You can change the tracking permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
7. Children
This app is aimed at students and people studying for qualifications. It is not designed or directed at children under 13.
8. Deleting your data
- On-device data: deleting the app removes it. Because dive records, depth and the codex live only on the device, this deletes them completely.
- What other divers can see:the ranking record stays after you finish a dive, because deleting it would break the rankings. Finishing a dive only clears the "diving now" flag, so your light stops showing. Records not updated for three hours also drop out of the nearby list.
